Positive Reinforcement

Well, this is a surprise to me I must say, but I think I have found the least caustic gaming related forum ever created. Also, I may need to be institutionalized. Those two statements may be mutually exclusive.

That special place is the Eurogamer.net forum. Seriously.

wat

Yes. That’s right, you see, Eurogamer.net is a website about games. It’s also based in Europe. Those two facts are easily gleaned from the name. This is a sentence. Shall I go on?

The forums on Eurogamer are not something I have ever considered entering. To be honest, it’s been some years since I last really engaged with a forum, there was once a quiet little place with regular faces who were always kind to me. I liked it there, we’d post silly things and play games. Then, this crazy thing happened called the Humble Indie Bundle, and that quiet little place became one of the busiest, best success stories in independent gaming since Minecraft. Hipster as it was to escape at the point of mass appeal, it became too difficult for me to keep track of, and it had it’s own share of trolls.

RENEGAAAAAAADEE!!!!!
RENEGAAAAAAADEE!!!!!

Since then, I have walked into forums, forgive the metaphor, and walked straight out of them as quickly as my cognition and mouse finger allows. It could be argued that Reddit has some forum-like qualities, and maybe that’s why I haven’t really bothered trying to find any new ones.

Anyway, the reason for my entering the Eurogamer forums was because, this last Thursday, Friday and Saturday I have been busily filming and consequently editing my experience of the Eurogamer Exposition. Coincidentally, those are also the days it has been held. And today. It’s still happening today. You may even have time to run there and shout at people who’ve been waiting in lines all day. The resulting video was pretty good, certainly the best live recording I have done for YouTube so far. You can check it out, if you like.

In my efforts to share this video with the internet at large, kind of the purpose of the YouTube channel it’s being hosted on, I decided to do something logical and went on the Eurogamer website to see if there was a place I could share it there. There was. It was the forum. I mean, you could have guessed that, you great big silly.

Anyway, the response has been fantastic.

And… well… Fantastic…

I’d say overwhelming, if that were an adjective that applied, but I am sufficiently whelmed and honestly I’m not a huge fan of hyperbole. So fantastic is the word to use. Absolutely positive. So we contrast that to that other website I mentioned where I was downvoted into oblivion and I have nothing but a positive word to say about those users of the website that has been the subject of this post.

Really, all I wanted to say was thanks, but I rambled. So. Thanks!
